Fragments of a Russian Shahed drone, which likely exploded, have been found in a rural area of Moldova, NewsMaker informs.
Russian Shahed drone found in Moldova
Fragments of a drone resembling a Geran-2 were discovered in Moldova's Cahul district on August 5, Moldovan police said.
The debris was found near the village of Valeni in the Cahul district.
Authorities conducted preliminary examinations of:
- The recovered fragments,
- Design features,
- Materials used,
- And identified markings.
Experts determined that the wreckage belonged to a Geran-2 drone, a Russian long-range strike UAV also known as a Shahed-type kamikaze drone.

All recovered fragments will be sent for forensic examination.
Specialists from the police explosives and technical unit are continuing the investigation to establish all circumstances surrounding the incident.
Russian drones in Moldova
As previously reported by RBC-Ukraine, a Russian drone was discovered in the village of Tudora in southern Moldova in March. Authorities assessed that the UAV was carrying explosives.
In February, another unidentified drone was found in one of Moldova's border regions. It was the third drone discovered in the country since the beginning of the year.
Earlier, in January, another Russian drone was found near Moldova's border after entering the country's airspace during a Russian attack on Ukraine's Odesa region. The drone was equipped with a warhead.
