Russian push near Dobropillia fails before Alaska summit - Zelenskyy

Russian attempts to demonstrate strength near Dobropillia ahead of the summit in Alaska resulted in the destruction of Russian forces, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address.
According to the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported to him on the active operations of Ukrainian defenders along all fronts. Particular attention was given to the Pokrovsk and Zaporizhzhia directions.
"Ukrainian warriors are clearing positions near Dobropillia of Russian forces, and this is very important. There are results. Russia's intention was to show strength before Alaska, and in fact, for them, it ends with their destruction," Zelenskyy added.
He also separately thanked the 79th and 82nd Air Assault Brigades, which are fighting in the Dobropillia area.
Breakthrough near Dobropillia
In recent days, reports appeared online that Russian forces had made significant advances in the Dobropillia area. This was indicated by the DeepStateMap interactive platform.
A representative of the Dnipro operational-strategic troop grouping, Viktor Trehubov, stated that only small groups of Russian troops — just a few individuals — had moved forward.
Notably, this enemy attack took place just a few days after US President Donald Trump announced his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
The US–Russia summit is scheduled to begin today, August 15.
