Russian Mi-8 helicopter violates Estonian airspace for third time this year

A Russian Mi-8 helicopter entered Estonian airspace and remained there for several minutes. This was not the first such violation this year, the Estonian Defense Forces press service reported.
"On Sunday, September 7, at noon, a Russian Mi-8 helicopter without permission entered Estonian airspace in the area of the island of Vaindloo and remained in Estonian airspace for about four minutes," the Defense Forces statement said.
It was specified that the helicopter had no flight plan, and the transponder was switched off. At the time of the violation, the Mi-8 also had no two-way radio communication with Estonian air traffic services.
Against this background, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia summoned the chargé d'affaires of the Russian Embassy in Estonia and handed him a note of protest.
Before this incident, this year alone, Russians had already violated Estonian airspace twice.
Violation of Lithuanian airspace
At the end of July, a Russian strike drone violated Lithuanian airspace.
As it later turned out, it was a Russian Gerbera. It crashed at a Lithuanian training ground.
