The death toll from Russia's massive strike on Kyiv during the night of August 28 has risen to 21, according to a Telegram post from the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko.

"As of 08:45 PM (Kyiv time - ed.), the death of 21 people as a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv has been confirmed," Tkachenko reported.

According to him, search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

Massive strike on Kyiv

On the night of August 28, Russian forces carried out a massive combined attack on Kyiv. The attackers targeted the capital with Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, including Kinzhal missiles.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat noted that this was one of the largest attacks on the capital.

As a result of the night’s massive strike, destruction was recorded in all districts of Kyiv. This is the first time such widespread damage has occurred since the beginning of the full-scale war.

In particular, in the Darnytskyi district, a missile hit a five-story residential building. One entrance was completely destroyed, with the strike hitting the third to fourth floors, causing extensive damage.
