On the morning of February 12, Russian troops attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. The attack resulted in damage, fires, injuries, and a killed person, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Currently, rescuers are eliminating the consequences of the attack in the Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts. In particular:
- Obolonskyi district. Two office buildings were damaged, and a fire broke out in one of them. The fire was extinguished. One person died and one was injured;
- Sviatoshynskyi district. There was a fire on the roof of a multi-story building. The fire was eliminated;
- Holosiivskyi district. A fire broke out in a two-story warehouse building. The fire is being extinguished.
“In total, over 80 rescuers and 17 units of fire and rescue equipment are currently working at the scene,” the State Emergency Service of Ukraine added.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the Russian attack killed one and injured three people in Kyiv.
At 7:18 a.m. Kyiv time, the State Emergency Service clarified that 1 person was killed and 4 others were injured as a result of a Russian attack in the Obolonskyi district of Kyiv. A child is among the injured.
“Rescuers extinguished the fire in a partially destroyed office building,” the statement said.
At 7:28 a.m. Kyiv time, the National Police of Ukraine reported that law enforcement officers were documenting the consequences of the Russian rocket attack on the capital. Some footage from the scene was also published.
“The fall of Russian drone debris was recorded in the Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Obolonskyi districts of the capital. So far, one person has been reported dead, and there is also information about injured people,” the statement said.
Russian strike on Kyiv on February 12
A series of explosions occurred in Kyiv at approximately 4:30 a.m. Kyiv time. The Ukrainian Air Force warned that there was a threat of Russian ballistic missile attacks.
