On Friday morning, August 9, two Russian missile carriers were detected in the waters of the Black Sea, deployed for combat duty by the aggressor state. These vessels are armed with Kalibr-type cruise missiles, according to the Ukrainian Naval Forces.

According to military sources, the ships can launch up to eight missiles in total.

Meanwhile, no enemy vessels have been observed in the Sea of Azov.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Navy reports that no Russian ships have been spotted in the Mediterranean Sea today.

Over the past 24 hours, several vessels passed through the Kerch Strait in the interest of Russia:

  • Seven ships entered the Black Sea, with four continuing towards the Bosporus Strait.
  • Nine ships entered the Sea of Azov, with one traveling from the Bosporus Strait.

The Ukrainian Navy also highlighted that Russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by disabling automatic identification systems (AIS).

Earlier, on July 24, Ukrainian Navy representative Dmytro Pletenchuk said that no Russian warships remained in the Sea of Azov, suggesting that the enemy might have begun to suspect something.

It has also been reported that Russian forces have shifted their focus from surface vessels to submarines.
