In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces continue attempts to advance through Ukrainian defensive lines, using infiltration tactics, according to Mykola “Odesa” Hrytsenko, chief of staff of the 4th Operational Battalion “Syla Svobody” of the “Rubizh” brigade.
He said the enemy regularly tries to deploy small assault groups, whose goal is not direct combat with Ukrainian Defense Forces positions, but covert penetration and accumulation in Ukrainian rear areas. These groups then attempt to attack fire support positions and units operating unmanned systems.
“The enemy constantly tries to push through our battle lines, cross our defensive positions, and move deeper. They are not changing their infiltration tactics,” Hrytsenko said.
He also noted that, despite continued intense pressure from the enemy, Russian forces have been deploying less equipment during assault operations.
Attempts by Russian forces to capture Pokrovsk
Previously, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Russia is concentrating reserves near Pokrovsk and that the enemy is attempting breakthroughs with small groups.
According to Syrskyi, the adversary is increasing pressure, moving reserves toward Pokrovsk, and seeking weak points in Ukrainian defenses.
Russian forces are employing both sporadic mass assaults and covert advances by small infantry groups.
The Ukrainian Airborne Forces also reported that Russian troops continue attempting to occupy Pokrovsk, trying to penetrate the northern part of the city, which remains under Defense Forces control.
They noted that since early December, during active assaults, the operational reserve of the Russians, the 76th Pskov Airborne Assault Division, has already suffered significant losses. As a result, the enemy has had to reinforce with additional units to continue the offensive.
