Russian forces are continuing their attempts to seize Pokrovsk. They are trying to break into the northern part of the city, which remains under the control of the Ukrainian forces, according to the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian losses

The 7th Corps noted that since the beginning of December, during active assaults, Russia’s operational reserve, units of the 76th Pskov Air Assault Division, has already suffered significant losses. As a result, the enemy is forced to reinforce its forces with additional units to continue the offensive.

Over the past week alone, Ukrainian defenders:

  • eliminated and killed 370 Russian soldiers;

  • destroyed and damaged 86 units of automotive and motorcycle equipment, 20 artillery pieces and self-propelled guns, and nearly 1,400 attack drones.

"According to available information, in the Pokrovsk direction, Russia plans to replenish its losses by the end of January in several stages," the unit added.

Situation in Pokrovsk

In Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defenders are holding back Russian forces that are trying to infiltrate the northern part of the city, beyond the railway line, in small groups and establish a foothold there.

"Due to our counteractions, the enemy is unable to sufficiently concentrate forces in the industrial zone in the northwestern part of the city. As a result, the enemy is not capable of carrying out open frontal assaults on Hryshyne, which is one of the priority objectives in the Pokrovsk agglomeration," the Air Assault Forces added.

Meanwhile, the Russian troops continue assaults in small groups, attempting to move through forest belts and approach Hryshyne from the south.

Situation in Myrnohrad

At the same time, in Myrnohrad, Ukrainian soldiers are holding back the enemy in the northern part of the city. According to the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces, Russian troops are accumulating equipment in the area of Novohrodivka, south of Myrnohrad.

The Russian army intends to deploy this equipment for further assaults, in particular on the upper part of Myrnohrad. Ukraine is working to ensure the timely detection and destruction of this equipment.

Syrskyi on the situation in Pokrovsk

Earlier, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that Russian forces are moving up reserves toward Pokrovsk.

The enemy is using tactics of sporadic mass assaults combined with covert advances by small infantry groups.
