On the evening of Jan. 26, Kharkiv came under a combined attack by Russian forces, with missiles and drones used, according to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov.

According to the regional administration head, two people were injured and are receiving all necessary medical assistance.

Two schools were damaged in the Industrialny district of the city.

In addition, the energy sector came under attack, sustaining significant damage.

Oleh Syniehubov said all relevant emergency teams are working at the sites to quickly eliminate the consequences of the strikes and stabilize the situation.

"We are working around the clock to restore electricity to Kharkiv residents as soon as possible," he said.

Attacks on Kharkiv

Earlier, a massive attack on Kharkiv and the region on January 26 was reported on.

As a result of Russian strikes on critical infrastructure in the Kharkiv region, several settlements, including Chuhuiv, were left without power.

The attack caused disruptions to the Kharkiv metro. Train service on the Saltivska and Oleksiivska lines was temporarily suspended for technical reasons.

The Kharkiv City Council later reported that instability in the city’s power system led to disruptions in the operation of electric public transport.

On January 25, Russian forces also carried out a massive strike on Kharkiv. One hit was recorded in the Nemyshlianskyi district, another in the Kyivskyi district. A civilian woman was injured, a 79-year-old was hospitalized with injuries.

In addition, on the night of Jan. 24, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv with drones. Over about two and a half hours, 25 drones were launched at the city.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the attack damaged residential buildings in the Industrialny and Nemyshlianskyi districts.

On January 21, the city was also hit, with a drone falling in the Slobidskyi district, according to the mayor.
