Russian forces carried out an overnight strike on critical infrastructure facilities in the Korosten district of the Zhytomyr region, the State Emergency Service reported.

According to the State Emergency Service, the attack caused a fire, which rescuers promptly extinguished. Preliminary information indicates there were no casualties.

It is reported that State Emergency Service bomb disposal experts worked at the site and inspected the area for explosive hazards. Chemical specialists also monitored the air, and no exceedance of maximum permissible concentrations of hazardous substances was detected.

In total, 50 State Emergency Service personnel and 15 units of equipment were involved in eliminating the consequences of the enemy strike.

Strikes on Zhytomyr region

In recent weeks, Russian forces have carried out attacks on critical infrastructure in the Zhytomyr region, mainly using strike drones flying along Ukraine's northern border.

Russian forces struck critical infrastructure facilities in the Zhytomyr and Korosten districts of the Zhytomyr region on the night of January 15.

On the night of January 13, several critical infrastructure sites in the Korosten and Zviahel districts of the region were also attacked. Rescuers worked at the impact sites to localize and extinguish fires.

In addition, on the night of January 11, Russian forces struck critical infrastructure facilities in the Zhytomyr region. Several fires broke out as a result of the strikes. Two workers were injured in the attack, sustaining moderate injuries, and were hospitalized.
