This afternoon, on March 22, Russian forces shelled Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. The attack killed two civilians, and an investigation was launched, the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office reports.

"On March 22, 2025, at 1:30 p.m, the aggressor state's troops once again shelled Pokrovsk. A 41-year-old man was killed on the street in one of the residential districts," the report states.

In addition, a 66-year-old local woman was injured near her home. She died from her wounds.

"The injuries she sustained were incompatible with life - the woman died while being evacuated from the scene," the Prosecutor's Office noted.

Law enforcement officials added that the type of weapon used by Russian forces in the attack is currently being determined.

At present, under the procedural guidance of the Pokrovsk District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched in a criminal case regarding a war crime (Part 2, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Shelling of Pokrovsk earlier this week

On Monday, March 17, Russian occupiers struck a private house in Pokrovsk. The attack injured three children - two sisters, aged 8 and 15, and their 12-year-old brother.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Moscow had shifted its priorities in the war. Currently, instead of fighting for Pokrovsk, the enemy has focused its efforts on the "liberation" of the Kursk region. For more details on the frontline situation read our material on the topic.
