Russia may attempt an attack in the border areas of the Belgorod and Kharkiv regions in the coming weeks, states Colonel Eero Rebo, the Chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces.

According to his forecasts, an attempt to advance in the border areas of the Kharkiv region may be made to divert Ukrainian forces from the Kupiansk direction, which is under the main attack of Russian troops.

He states that the most intense fighting on the Donetsk front is taking place near Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Donetsk.

"And it is quite obvious that the main emphasis in the offensive is placed on Avdiivka, where, according to reports, Putin's units have also been noted as conducting reconnaissance and various maneuvers inside the city. But this does not mean that they managed to break through or hinder the logistics of the Ukrainian armed forces," the colonel says.

He notes that in the Zaporizhzhia direction, active fighting is mainly taking place to the south of Velyka Novosilka, where neither side is advancing.

In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian units hold a bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Dnipro, engaging Russian forces that have been unable to advance despite various attempts.

Frontline situation

According to the General Staff, there were 82 armed clashes on the Ukrainian front within a day. Russian invaders launched massive attacks in the Maryinka direction.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) report, Ukrainian forces advanced along the front south of Novomykhailivka (southwest of Donetsk). The Ukrainian Armed Forces also repelled Russians northeast of Zapovitne Bazhannia, advancing southwest of Myrne.
