Russian forces launch more than 26 strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure - Energy Ministry

Russian forces have attacked Ukraine's energy facilities more than 26 times just today. Several regions came under constant fire, according to Ukraine's Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.
Hrynchuk met with ambassadors of the G7 countries to outline Ukraine's key energy needs ahead of winter amid relentless Russian strikes.
"Just today, we've recorded more than 26 attacks on our energy facilities. The Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, and Poltava regions are under daily enemy fire," Hrynchuk said.
She stressed that Ukraine urgently needs additional air defense and electronic warfare systems to protect critical infrastructure, as well as to develop passive physical protection of energy sites.
The minister also called on partners to provide more energy equipment to replace what has been destroyed.
Hrynchuk noted that another priority is accumulating sufficient gas reserves amid Russia’s attempts to destroy Ukraine's gas infrastructure.
Energy attacks
Russian forces have once again focused their attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Earlier today, October 7, the Russian army struck an energy facility in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, leaving more than 61,000 customers without electricity.
Energy workers immediately began repairs to restore the power supply.
