Russian forces attempt landings on islands in Kherson, propaganda claims of city attack denied
Russian army in the Kherson region is attempting to land on the islands. There are no reports of an offensive on Kherson, according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, on Telegram.
He explained that in the Kherson region, the Russian troops are attempting amphibious operations on the islands. However, Ukrainian defenders are effectively destroying the enemy, and Russia is suffering losses.
"Their propagandists are scaring us with an attack on the city of Kherson, although this is not the case. The enemy's main objective, to which our army is prepared, is these attempts by the Russians to land in groups on certain sections of the islands by boat," Kovalenko clarified.
He specified that the threats to Kherson come from Russian drones, artillery, and aviation, as has been the case before.
Situation in the Kherson region
Recently, the Russian troops have become more active in the Kherson region.
On December 23, the military movement of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars, ATESH, reported that the Russian army had been losing platoons (ranging from 15 to 60 soldiers) during assaults in the Kherson region.
At the same time, RBC-Ukraine sources claim that the Russian forces have already decided to launch an offensive on Kherson. For this, they plan to deploy up to 4,000 stormtroopers.
