Russian forces attack Ukrainian defense lines in Bilohorivka, some positions destroyed

The Russian army has intensified its offensive on two fronts. In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces fortifications in Bilohorivka were attacked, the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group of Troops reports.
According to the military, in the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions near Nadiia, Kopanky, Novoiehorivka, Makiivka, and Terny.
Meanwhile, in the Siversk direction, Ukrainian fortifications in Bilohorivka came under assault. Due to enemy attacks and intense fire, some positions were destroyed. Measures are being taken to prevent further deterioration of the tactical situation.
Situation in other directions
- Kharkiv direction: Over the past 24 hours, the enemy attempted an unsuccessful assault on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk.
- Kupiansk direction: Russian forces launched assaults in the areas of Kolisnykivka, Holubivka, and Zahryzove. The enemy used armored vehicles to reinforce efforts and relocate personnel toward Petropavlivka and Zelenyi Hai. Due to the activation of engineering barriers and fire strikes by Ukrainian units, three enemy tanks, three armored fighting vehicles, and one infantry fighting vehicle were destroyed. In addition, two more armored fighting vehicles were damaged.
- Kramatorsk and Toretsk directions: The enemy concentrated its offensive efforts near Dyliivka and Toretsk but achieved no success.
- Pokrovsk direction: Russian attacks targeted Ukrainian positions in the areas of Myroliubivka, Baranivka, Yelyzavetivka, Zelene, Kotlyne, Nadiivka, Lysivka, Dachenske, Shevchenko, and Yasenove. Defense forces are holding back the enemy, which is attempting to use its numerical advantage to advance.
- Kurakhove direction: The enemy is conducting assault operations near Kurakhove, advancing toward Dachne and Yantarne. Ongoing efforts are being made to detect and eliminate enemy assault groups attempting to infiltrate Ukrainian battle formations.
- Vremivka direction: Russian troops continue to accumulate forces. During the past day, the enemy attacked Ukrainian fortifications near Novosilka, Kostiantynopolske, and toward Kostiantynopol but failed to succeed, and the tactical situation remains under control.
According to the General Staff, there were 192 combat clashes along the frontline on January 8. The enemy carried out the highest number of attacks in the Kursk region.
