Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 9
Over the past day, January 8, 192 combat engagements took place in the frontline. Russians attacked most of all in the Kursk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Over the past day, missile troops and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit 11 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, a command post, a drone control post, two warehouses, and 7 other important Russian targets,” Ukraine's General Staff writes.
Sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, Russians attacked 4 times in the area of Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 12 Russian attacks near Holubivka, Zahryzove, and in the direction of Petropavlivka.
In the Lyman sector, Russians attacked 17 times near Nadiia, Kopanky, Novoiehorivka, Ivanivka, and Terny.
In the Siversk sector, Russians attacked twice in the area of Bilohorivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Russians attacked 3 times near Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk sector, Russians carried out 6 attacks near Toretsk and Dyliivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, 42 Russian attacks were repelled near Myroliubivka, Baranivka, Yelyzavetivka, and other localities.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Russians attacked 38 times in the areas of Dachne, Kurakhove, Shevchenko, Petropavlivka, Slovianka, and Yasenove.
In the Vremivka sector, 16 Russian attacks were repelled in the areas of Novosilka, Kostyantynopolske, Yantarne, and in the direction of Kostyantynopol.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russia attacked 3 times.
In the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 48 Russian attacks, and the fighting continues.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
Over the past day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed another 1,430 Russian occupants, as well as 17 tanks, 16 armored combat vehicles, 36 artillery systems, and more.
