During the night of October 4, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with strike drones and Banderol drones from six directions. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down or suppress most of the enemy drones, but several strikes were recorded, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

Russia attacked with 135 strike drones, including Shahed-type drones, 52 of which were jet-powered, as well as Gerbera drones, Banderol/Dan-T drones and Parody-type decoy drones. They were launched from the areas of Orel, Kursk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Crimea, including Hvardiiske.

According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 123 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones, as well as two Banderol/Dan-T drones.

Strikes by enemy attack weapons were recorded at five locations, while debris from downed targets fell at five other locations.

The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones still in Ukrainian airspace.

It was previously reported that Russia had stepped up attacks on Kyiv, focusing on bridges across the Dnipro River that connect the capital’s left and right banks.

According to the Washington Post, Russia’s current campaign against the bridges could be part of a broader effort to disrupt the normal functioning of Kyiv ahead of winter.

Overall, the attacks on Kyiv could weaken the bridges’ load-bearing structures and force authorities to close them indefinitely rather than risk a collapse.

The result could be a logistical nightmare for Kyiv and the entire country.
