Russia's losses in Ukraine as of January 9: +1,400 troops and 17 tanks

Over the past day, from January 8 to 9, Russian forces suffered losses on the frontlines, including 1,430 soldiers, 86 UAVs operational-tactical level, and 16 armored personnel vehicles, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 9, 2025, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 803 100 (+1430) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 9731 (+17);
- armored personnel vehicle - 20 221 (+16);
- artillery systems - 21 765 (+36);
- MLRS - 1,260;
- anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1,038;
- aircraft - 369;
- helicopters - 331;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 21 813 (+86);
- cruise missiles - 3,014;
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 33 387 (+80);
- special equipment - 3686 (+5).
Situation at front and Russian shelling
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces achieved success in the Kursk region and two areas of the Donetsk region.
During the night, the Russian army again attacked Ukraine with kamikaze drones.
Explosions were heard near Kremenchuk in the Poltava region due to the work of air defense systems.
