Russian troops have advanced toward the southern flank of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, where they are attacking the positions of the Defense Forces, National Guard of Ukraine spokesperson Ruslan Muzychuk states this during a national telethon live broadcast.

"The enemy continues offensive actions against settlements in the Pokrovsk area and along the southern flank of Pokrovsk itself," Muzychuk said.

According to him, the Russian forces are concentrating infantry groups for attacks and taking advantage of weather conditions.

The spokesperson explained that fog hampers Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance, allowing the enemy to use infantry in groups of two to ten soldiers intensively.

Muzychuk also noted that, compared to the fall of 2024, the use of drones on the frontline by both sides has increased more than 2.5 times.

Battles for Pokrovsk

In recent months, Russian troops have been attempting to break through defenses in the Pokrovsk direction, which remains one of the most challenging sections of the frontline.

Recently, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, stated that Russian forces have changed their assault tactics on Pokrovsk. Instead of attacking the city head-on, they are now attempting to encircle it.

Trehubov also noted that nearly half of all combat engagements are taking place in the Pokrovsk direction, with a significant number of small-scale clashes occurring near the city.

According to the General Staff, over the past day, Ukrainian forces repelled 72 enemy attacks in the areas of Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Myrolyubivka, Lysivka, and other settlements in the Pokrovsk direction.
