Russian forces carried out a mass drone attack on Dnipro overnight. Fires broke out across the city, buildings were damaged, and children were among the injured, according to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk region Military Administration, Vladyslav Haivanenko.

Damage in Dnipro

Seven people were injured as a result of the nighttime drone raid on Dnipro. Among the wounded were two children:

  • an 8-year-old girl, recovering at home;

  • a 16-year-old girl, hospitalized in moderate condition.

Several fires erupted in the city and have since been extinguished by emergency crews. Enemy strikes damaged apartment buildings, a private house, administrative buildings, civilian vehicles, and a gas pipeline.

Attacks across the region

The aggressor also targeted the Vasylkivka community in the Synelnykove district with drones, setting a private home on fire.

The city of Nikopol came under heavy artillery fire. Damage was reported to an industrial facility and residential areas. Haivanenko noted that fires caused by the shelling were quickly put out by State Emergency Service responders.

Air defense response

Air defense forces repelled the mass attack. According to Air Command East, 27 enemy drones were shot down over the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that multiple direct hits and widespread damage were recorded in Dnipro during the drone assault. Russian forces targeted residential neighborhoods and infrastructure facilities, triggering several fires in different parts of the city.

On January 6, a separate drone strike hit an infrastructure facility in Dnipro, causing a leak of sunflower oil. Around 300 tons of oil spilled onto city roads, severely disrupting traffic and requiring extensive cleanup operations.

Municipal services and emergency crews spent several days dealing with the spill, using special absorbents to prevent road accidents and minimize environmental risks to the region.
