Russian forces launched a drone attack on Dnipro and the surrounding region overnight on July 15, damaging residential buildings and a local gymnasium, according to the Telegram channel of Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration.
"In Dnipro, as a result of the UAV attack, an apartment building, six private houses, and a gymnasium were damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured," Lysak stated.
According to him, air defense forces shot down 16 enemy drones over Dnipropetrovsk region during the night.
"Overnight, the Nikopol district was hit by FPV drones and artillery. The aggressor targeted the district center, as well as the Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets communities. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries," added the head of the regional military administration.
Russian strikes on Dnipro
Since the early days of the war, Russian forces have been attacking Dnipro with drones and missiles. In particular, on the morning of June 24, a series of explosions was heard in the city. The Air Force detected two ballistic targets heading toward Dnipro.
It was later confirmed that Russian forces struck a residential area. A passenger train traveling from Odesa to Zaporizhzhia was also damaged — the blast wave shattered the windows of one of the carriages, though there were no direct hits.
Overall, the city sustained heavy damage. Schools, kindergartens, a dormitory, a gymnasium, a city hospital, a clinic, and an administrative building were all either struck or damaged.
