Russian drones reach targets despite Ukraine shooting down majority

On the night of July 28, Russia launched 131 attack drones at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized most of the targets, but some drones reached their targets, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
What Russia used in the attack
From 6:00 p.m. on July 27 until the morning of July 28, Russia launched 131 attack drones. They included Shahed drones, including jet-powered variants, as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones.
The launches were recorded from several directions:

Bryansk, Kursk, and Oryol regions in Russia

Russian-occupied Donetsk

Russian-occupied Hvardiiske in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea
How many drones were intercepted
As of 8:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 107 Russian drones. These included Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones.
The targets were destroyed over the north, south, center, and east of the country.
Impact of the attack
Despite the work of the air defenses, some drones reached their targets. Hits by 16 attack drones were recorded at nine locations.
Debris from downed drones was also found at six locations. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Ukrainian special forces killed three pilots from Russia's Rubicon unit in Russian-occupied Dniprorudne.
A fourth Russian serviceman was wounded during the operation.
Russia also attempted to attack Kyiv during the night of July 28, with explosions heard across the capital.
An air raid alert was declared in the city, and residents were urged to take shelter.
