Russian attack drones have not been flying along the Belarus-Ukraine border for the past three days. The most likely explanation is that relay stations on Belarusian territory have been switched off, according to the Belarusian outlet Flagstok.

In late spring and early summer of 2026, Russian drone flights in this area were massive, with some of them even crossing into the territory of the neighboring country.

The last such incident was recorded on the morning of June 21. At the time, Ukraine's Air Force reported drones moving over the northern Chernihiv region toward the city of Slavutych. One of those drones later entered Belarus and flew over the Gomel and Brest regions.

In the following days, Russia continued attacking the Chernihiv region, though it launched its kamikaze drones along alternative routes, avoiding the border with Belarus.

Monitoring groups believe the rerouting stems from the fact that Russia has stopped using relay stations on Belarusian territory. Previously, Russian forces used them to adjust their attacks on Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned Belarus about the consequences of hosting four relay stations that Russia uses to direct drones.

The Ukrainian leader gave Minsk one week to dismantle the equipment, warning that otherwise Ukraine could take the necessary measures on its own.

The European Commission backed Ukraine's right to self-defense following Zelenskyy's ultimatum to Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko. EU officials stressed that Belarus continues to facilitate Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Belarusian opposition have provided Ukraine with information suggesting Minsk may be preparing for a gradual involvement in the war. The signs include the expansion of military capabilities and the reorientation of the economy toward wartime needs.
