Russian drone strikes Ukraine's Sumy high-rise, leaving one woman injured

On Sunday afternoon, October 26, Russian forces struck the roof of a high-rise building in Sumy with a drone. At least one person was injured in the attack, Acting Mayor Artem Kobzar reports.
"As a result of a hit by an Italmas-type UAV, a fire broke out on the roof of a high-rise residential building in the Zarichny district of the city. The fire was quickly extinguished. All relevant services are working on site," Kobzar said.
Head of the Sumy City Military Administration Serhii Kryvosheienko said the strike occurred around 2:20 PM Kyiv time, hitting the building's roof directly.

Later, Kobzar confirmed that one person was injured.
"A 44-year-old woman experienced an acute stress reaction. Medical personnel provided assistance," he said.
The Sumy City Military Administration added that her condition is currently stable.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine released photos showing the aftermath of the attack and confirmed the fire was extinguished.
"On October 26, in the afternoon, an attack UAV struck the residential sector of Sumy. The strike hit the roof of a nine-story residential building, causing a fire that rescuers quickly extinguished," the service said.

Local social media posts also circulated footage showing the moment the building was hit.
Russian strikes on Ukraine's Sumy
Earlier, on October 21, Russian forces attacked Sumy with an Italmas drone. The strike targeted civilian infrastructure, hitting a road surface.
That attack damaged two high-rise buildings. Several windows and about 35 balcony frames were destroyed, and 12 people were injured.
On the night of October 23, the enemy struck the territory of a railway station with a drone. Two railway workers were wounded in the attack.
