Russian drone strikes Kharkiv high-rise: Casualties and fire reported

Late in the evening on March 2, Kharkiv was once again under attack by Russian drones. In one of the districts, a drone struck a high-rise building, sparking a fire, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
The sound of an explosion in Kharkiv from the UAV attack was heard at approximately 10:02 PM (Kyiv time). Terekhov clarified that the drone struck the central part of the city and later reported that it hit a high-rise building, causing a fire on one of the floors.
At the same time, Syniehubov stated that the strike had been recorded in the Saltivskyi district. He also confirmed that one of the hits occurred in the central part of the city, resulting in a balcony fire in an apartment building. At 10:10 PM, the Mayor of Kharkiv provided further details.
"The strike was in the Kyivskyi district, hitting a residential apartment building. Information on casualties is still being clarified. All relevant services are working at the scene," the report stated.
A few minutes later, Terekhov added that one person had been injured.

Syniehubov reported that efforts to eliminate the aftermath of the Russian strike in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv were ongoing.
"A 21-year-old man was injured but did not require hospitalization. As a result of the strike on the high-rise, apartments caught fire. Additionally, windows in nearby buildings were damaged," he wrote.

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration stated that, as of this moment, the number of injured had increased to three. They received medical assistance on-site.

The mayor of the city reported that firefighters are currently extinguishing a blaze, which, due to the drone strike, spread to several apartments on the top floor of a high-rise building.
"At this moment, there are three injured: a 21-year-old man, an 80-year-old woman, and a 50-year-old man. All have refused hospitalization," the report stated.

Terekhov wrote that the number of injured had increased to five.

Russia's attack on Ukraine
As a reminder, on the night of March 2, Russian forces launched 79 drones at Ukraine. Air defense forces managed to destroy 63 drones, while 16 UAV decoys were locally lost.
