The Turkish Ministry of National Defense reported the discovery of a drone, believed to belong to Russia, according to Hurriyet.

Special forces were sent to the scene in the northeast of Ordu province, near Ünye. After checking it out, they found that the drone didn't have any explosives.

Then, they took the drone to the Ünye police station for more testing.

Russian drones in Türkiye

In December, a Russian Merlin-VR reconnaissance drone was discovered in Türkiye, the third such incident in a week. It was found by farmers in the Salur neighborhood of Manis district in Balikesir province.

Before that, Türkiye destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle that was approaching its airspace from the Black Sea. The incident was reported by the country's Ministry of Defense.

According to the Ministry, the object was identified as a drone that had lost control. To prevent possible risks and threats, the Turkish military decided to destroy it.

The drone was shot down by F-16 fighter jets in a safe area outside populated areas. The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the operation was carried out with a view to minimizing possible consequences.

In addition, a Russian reconnaissance drone crashed in Türkiye. It was found in a rural area near İzmit. According to preliminary information, it was a Russian Orlan reconnaissance drone. Such drones are used for reconnaissance purposes and do not contain explosives.
