Russian drone hits Turkish-owned cargo ship in Black Sea, crew injured

On the night of May 29, Russian forces deliberately attacked a vessel traveling from one of the ports in the Odesa region to Türkiye. Crew members were injured in the strike, according to the Ukrainian Navy.
According to the Ukrainian Navy, during the overnight attack, the Russian army used attack drones against the ANT cargo ship, which sails under the flag of Vanuatu. The vessel, owned by a Turkish company, was transporting cargo from one of the ports in the Odesa region to Türkiye.
As a result of a drone strike on the ship's superstructure, a fire broke out.
Thanks to the prompt actions of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service and units of the Ukrainian Navy, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
Two crew members were injured. They were evacuated by Ukrainian Navy boats and taken to a medical facility for the necessary treatment.
The Ukrainian Navy stressed that Russia continues to pose a threat to international shipping in the Black Sea by attacking civilian infrastructure and merchant vessels.

Earlier, Russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region with a missile. Nine people were injured, including three children.
