On the afternoon of April 16, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv with a drone, striking a densely populated area in the city center, according to a statement by Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

According to him, the strike hit the Kyiv district of Kharkiv. Initially, a fire in a private house was reported.

"A private house is on fire. There is currently no information about casualties," Terekhov said.

Later, the mayor clarified that an office building caught fire as a result of the attack. According to preliminary data, there are no dead or injured.

As the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, added, the enemy attacked the central part of the city. A strike on a two-storey building was recorded, and a fire broke out there.

As of now, no information about casualties has been received. Emergency services are working at the scene of the strike.

Attack on Ukraine on April 16

Russia carried out a massive combined attack on the territory of Ukraine. Among the cities under attack was Kharkiv, where hits were recorded in three districts of the city. As a result of the strike, two people were injured.

According to local authorities, a passenger car caught fire in the Industrial district.

In the Nemyshlianskyi district, a strike on a roadway caused damage to the windows of five private houses and the gas network — two people sought medical assistance.

In the Saltivskyi district, a drone hit a garden, causing a fire in a utility building and damaging windows in a multi-storey residential building.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that a distinctive feature of this attack was the use of a large number of ballistic missiles — 19 Iskander-M/S-400 missiles were launched at four regions.

In total, between the morning of April 15 and the morning of April 16, Russian forces used 703 aerial targets, including various types of missiles and attack drones.

According to the latest data, there are fatalities in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa.

In particular, destruction in the capital has been recorded in the Podilskyi, Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Desnianskyi districts.

The Ministry of Energy reported that the energy infrastructure was under attack. Power outages occurred in several regions.
