Russian drone attack on Ukraine's Kherson leaves one dead

"There is already the first victim of Russian terrorists in the new year. A 31-year-old resident was hit by enemy shelling in the Dniprovskyi district and sustained injuries incompatible with life. My condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased," his statement said.

Shanko added that the Russian army attacked the Kherson community with drones in the morning.

"One of them fell into the yard of a private house in Stepanivka. Fortunately, people were not injured and are surprised that the dogs kept in enclosures survived," he noted.

The head of the City Military Administration also said that another enemy drone flew into a multi-story apartment building in the Central district. As a result, an elderly woman was wounded, and several apartments were damaged.

Russian attacks on Kherson

Earlier, on December 28, nine people were injured during a morning attack on Kherson’s Korabelnyi district, while another person was wounded in an artillery strike on the regional center. Private homes and apartment buildings were also damaged in those attacks.

In addition, at noon on Christmas Day, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on the central part of Kherson, hitting a city market while people were there.

On December 18, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, said that the Kherson thermal power plant was under constant Russian attacks.

Kherson continues to suffer from Russian drone attacks and artillery strikes. In September, Russian forces also scattered anti-personnel mines on the streets of residential neighborhoods in Kherson, partially mining parts of the city. They did the same in November.
