In the Sumy region, Russian forces attacked employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) with a drone. As a result of the strike, a fire truck was damaged, according to the SES of Ukraine and the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov.

It is reported that in the afternoon of September 22, rescuers were heading to an emergency call in one of the border settlements of the Sumy region.

While en route, the enemy, likely using an FPV drone on fiber optics, carried out a targeted strike on the fire truck carrying the rescuers.

“Fortunately, none of the personnel were injured. The rescuers were evacuated in an armored vehicle. The fire truck was damaged,” the statement reads.

The SES reminded that shelling rescuers is a war crime and yet another demonstration of the aggressor’s cynicism, which does not stop even at attacking those who come to help people.

The agency also released photos and videos of the aftermath of the attack.

Oleh Hryhorov confirmed the enemy attack on the rescuers’ vehicle. He reported that the Russian forces deliberately targeted our rescuers who were heading to an emergency call in the border area of the Sumy region.

“By some miracle, none of the State Emergency Service workers who were in this vehicle were injured - all returned home unharmed. Endless gratitude to the rescuers of the Sumy region who, despite daily risks, continue to save lives,” Hryhorov noted.
