Russian Defense Ministry reports repelling drone attack, but there is one nuance
Several regions in Russia activated air defense systems last night due to a purported drone attack. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense's report does not mention one of the regions that allegedly also experienced an aerial attack, citing the Russian Defense Ministry and Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of the Bryansk region.
The ministry of the aggressor country wrote on the morning of July 17 that aircraft-type drones were shot down in the Belgorod and Voronezh regions.
However, the Bryansk region is not mentioned in the report.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, drones attempted to attack targets within the country last night, but the attempt was "traditionally thwarted."
The statement claims that one drone was eliminated in the Belgorod region and two in the Voronezh region.
However, the governor of Bryansk wrote on his Telegram in the morning that two aircraft-type drones were allegedly also shot down over the Surazhsky district.
The Russian official says that the aerial targets were "destroyed by servicemen of the Russian Ministry of Defense."
He also added that there were no casualties or damage as a result of the drone elimination, and emergency services are operating at the site.
Drone attacks in Russia
Recently, Russia has been regularly reporting drone attacks in various regions, both in border areas and deep within the territory of the aggressor country.
Often, following such aerial assaults, reports emerge of fires at oil depots, refineries, factories, and other sites.
For example, just the previous day in the Kursk region, a drone attack caused a fire at a low-voltage equipment plant. And on July 13, a drone strike resulted in a fire at an oil depot in the Rostov region.
