Oil depot burns due to drone attack in Rostov region
Early in the morning on July 13, a fire broke out at an oil depot in the Rostov region, Russian Federation, reportedly caused by drone strikes, according to Rostov region Governor Vasily Golubev and Russian media sources.
A Russian official clarified that the incident involved an oil facility in the Tsimlyansky district.
"At around 04:00, a drone attack caused a fire at an oil depot in the Tsimlyansky district," he wrote on social media.
According to preliminary information, there are no casualties or injuries due to the emergency. The governor added that emergency services are currently working to extinguish the fire.
"The fire has been classified as Level 3. Fire crews are on-site, involving 49 personnel and 14 units of equipment. The information is being updated," he said.
Meanwhile, footage of the burning oil depot has already surfaced online. Propagandists are predictably blaming the Ukrainian side for the drone attack.
A Telegram channel, Mash, reported that debris from a downed drone by Russian air defense systems fell onto the facility's premises, where gasoline (AI-92, AI-95) and diesel fuel are stored.
Situation in the Rostov region
About a week ago in Rostov and the region, power outages were implemented amid drone attacks. Local energy officials reported a power deficit.
Earlier, on the night of July 5, explosions were reported in Rostov-on-Don, and air defense systems were activated in response to drone attacks, resulting in a fire at an oil storage facility nearby.
Subsequently, on July 9, there was another reported drone attack in the Rostov region, described as a coordinated effort. The governor of the region confirmed incidents involving fires at two transformers in a power substation.
Additionally, on the same day, it was reported that Ukrainian drones targeted military airfields at Akhtubinsk in the Astrakhan region, an oil refinery in Kalach-na-Donu in the Volgograd region, and a 500kV power substation in the Rostov region, Russia. This operation was reportedly a joint effort between the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the Defence Intelligence.
