On October 15, Ukraine struck six Su-34M bombers at the Borisoglebsk military airfield in Russia's Voronezh region. New details of the special operation have emerged, according to a statement by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy.
Six months of work
The Ukrainian Navy struck six Su-34M bombers using the Neptune coastal missile system. This represents half a year of work by the Russian defense industry.
Pletenchuk states that this is an important precedent.
"This is evidence of the level of synergy between Ukrainian developers and engineering thought. Because Neptune is a completely Ukrainian weapons system, and the Navy is practically the only branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that uses it," he said.
The Navy spokesperson also emphasized that the number of enemy aircraft hit is a high indicator.
"When we see another news item in Russian media about receiving a batch of aircraft, it refers to 2-3 units. Therefore, at least half a year of work by the Russian defense industry was destroyed by one precise hit of Neptune missiles," he emphasized.
Another Navy operation
The Navy, together with soldiers of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, also carried out another successful operation, says Pletenchuk.
In Khorly, on the left bank of the Kherson region, a training center for UAV operators of the 18th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Armed Forces was destroyed.
"This is also very important news, because the 'safaris' that the occupiers organize against people—honing their skills in this way—are beyond good and evil... These are crimes on the level of World War II..." he said.
Late in the evening on October 14, explosions were heard in Borisoglebsk, Voronezh region, followed by a large-scale fire. The local military airfield was likely hit.
Furthermore, on the night of October 15, the Ukrainian Navy struck a Russian airfield in the Voronezh region. Six Su-34M bombers were destroyed.
The Su-34s struck by the Defense Forces on October 15 were preparing for new strikes on Ukraine. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
