Russian Belgorod region under shelling since early morning
People in the Belgorod region have been complaining about shelling since the morning. A multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) was allegedly fired at the region, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
At 7:32 a.m., the region was warned of a missile threat, and after a while explosions began to be heard in Belgorod. In particular, there were reports of debris from downed shells falling on the territory of the city's industrial zone.
The published photos and videos show damaged cars and houses. In particular, the mayor of Belgorod reported a casualty, as well as damage to a residential building and a business entity.
Later, the Ministry of Defense announced that the attack was allegedly carried out by an RM-70 Vampire multiple-launch rocket system.
"Ten missiles were destroyed in the air over the Belgorod region by regular air defense systems," the terrorist country's Defense Ministry adds.
Raid of Russian volunteers
On March 12, the Russian Volunteer Corps, together with two other units, broke through the border with Russia and took control of several settlements, in particular in the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
Earlier, Russian volunteers announced attacks on Russian military positions in Belgorod and Kursk. Residents of Belgorod and Kursk regions were urged to evacuate. Later, the volunteers repeated their call for evacuation.
Also on March 16, people in Belgorod complained of explosions and a fire, even though the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the "successful" operation of air defense.
RBC-Ukraine's sources in Ukrainian intelligence say that the Russian authorities were blocking the evacuation of civilians in the Belgorod region.
