Russian authorities prepare for elections in occupied Crimea - NRC
In early September, Russian authorities plan to hold local elections in temporarily occupied Crimea, reports the Center for National Resistance (CNS).
The elections are scheduled for September 8. Currently, the Russians are compiling lists from branches of the Kremlin's council of public figures in the temporarily occupied areas of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, who will act as observers. Their role is to assist the Kremlin in legitimizing the electoral process.
Additionally, the occupation administration is attempting to increase voter turnout by persuading displaced persons on the peninsula to vote using their residence permits. Voting is also expected to be made mandatory for military personnel.
Situation in the occupied territories
The Russian authorities have ordered an increase in the number of priests in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to bolster pro-Russian propaganda.
Additionally, the presence of "Cossacks" in schools within these territories is set to increase.
