A day of mourning has been declared in the Ukrainian city of Odesa after a massive Russian attack that killed three people, including a mother and child, head of Odesa regional administration Oleh Kiper reports.

"As a result of the overnight attack on Odesa, unfortunately, there are reports of 3 dead and at least 15 injured, of whom 13 have been hospitalized. Among the dead are a 30-year-old woman and her young daughter, who was only 2.6 years old, as well as another woman aged 53. Sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims," Kiper said.

According to him, 15 people sustained injuries of varying severity, including a pregnant woman and two children: a 7-month-old boy and a 2-year-old girl.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy clarified that a total of 16 injured in Odesa.

It is noted that the injured have shrapnel wounds, burns, injuries, and poisoning from combustion products. Some people are in serious condition. Doctors assess the condition of the children as moderate. All victims are receiving all necessary medical assistance.

Day of mourning in Odesa

"Today in Odesa is a day of mourning. We honor the memory of those killed whose lives were cut short by today's enemy attack. We lost three people, including a two-year-old child," said head of Odesa city military administration Serhii Lysak.

He also reported that as a sign of mourning, the flag of Ukraine and the flag of Odesa have been lowered on buildings with mourning ribbons. All businesses and organizations are recommended to limit entertainment events and the use of music.

Strike on Odesa on April 6

Russian troops, overnight on April 6, attacked Odesa and the region with dozens of strike drones.

In particular, the enemy attacked an energy facility in the Odesa region at night. As a result of the attack, nearly 20 thousand families were left without electricity.

It is noted that another 16.7 thousand families remain without electricity in parts of Prymorskyi, Khadzhibeyskyi, and Kyivskyi districts of Odesa.
