Russian attack on Kyiv sets homes, warehouses and office building ablaze

What Russia used to attack

At approximately 12:20 am Kyv time, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and most regions. Immediately after, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded missile launches, followed by a loud series of explosions heard in the city.

These explosions recurred at 12:32 am and 12:41 am. Then, after a brief pause, new explosions were heard at 1:07 am, as the enemy launched ballistic missiles a second time.

Starting at 1:20 am, the active operation of air defense systems could be heard in Kyiv, as Russian forces began an attempt to attack the capital with jet-powered drones.

Consequences of the attack on Kyiv

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the Kyiv City Military Administration, the consequences of the attack are currently being recorded in Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Desnianskyi, Holosiivskyi districts, and in the suburbs – the Kyiv-Sviatoshynskyi district.

Obolonskyi district

Currently, it is known that in Obolon, a strike was recorded on an office building and on non-residential territory, and a fire has broken out in warehouse facilities at two addresses.

In addition, there was initially information that as a result of a strike – likely a missile – a fire had broken out in a 20-story residential building. However, this has not been confirmed.

Nevertheless, there is also information about a fire in another residential building.

Sviatoshynskyi district

In this district, warehouse facilities are burning.

Desnianskyi district

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that a warehouse building is on fire in Desnianskyi district.

Holosiivskyi district

Initially, it was reported that a fire had broken out in a one-story warehouse building in Holosiivskyi district. Later, the city military administration added that a warehouse facility had been destroyed, and people may be trapped under the rubble.

Additionally, Klitschko reported that as of 1:32 AM, the following consequences are also known:

• Damage to a private residential building, with people possibly trapped under the rubble;
• An ammonia leak caused by a strike on non-residential premises.

Suburbs of Kyiv

The mayor reported that non-residential buildings are burning in the Kyiv-Sviatoshynskyi district, with a large fire there.

Casualties

Klitschko stated that at one location, an ambulance was damaged by secondary explosions, and the driver was injured.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that two people are currently known to have been injured. Meanwhile, Klitschko wrote that in the Holosiivskyi district, two people were pulled from the rubble of a destroyed warehouse.

That is, as of this moment, preliminary information indicates two injured individuals and one injured ambulance driver.

"Three people injured in the enemy attack have been hospitalized by medics. One of them is in serious condition," Klitschko wrote.

Attacks on Kyiv

On the night of August 1, Russia also attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. As a result of the attack, the Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Pecherskyi districts were affected.
