On the evening of Wednesday, March 18, near Novovolynsk, Russian forces struck an energy facility. Power outages and water supply disruptions have been reported, according to a statement by the city mayor, Borys Karpus, and a post by the head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Roman Romanyuk.

"Preliminarily, there was a strike on an energy facility near Novovolynsk. Power has gone out in part of the community. There are also disruptions to the water supply," he said in the statement.

According to mayor Borys Karpus, Russian forces attacked an energy facility near the Novovolynsk community. He stressed that the damage is very serious, and a fire broke out at the site.

"Relevant services are working at the site of the strike. Energy workers will begin work as soon as it becomes possible. There may currently be disruptions to the water supply. We are launching generators," he added.

The mayor also said that some boiler houses will operate at a minimal level. In addition, Points of Invincibility are being set up, and their addresses will be announced to residents later.

The head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Roman Romanyuk, said the Russian forces carried out the strike using a Shahed drone. As of now, more than 30,000 subscribers in one of the regions of the area remain without electricity.

Russian attacks on Ukraine

On the night of March 18, Russia launched a new aerial attack on Ukraine, firing 147 drones from six directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the targets.

At the same time, hits by 15 attack drones were recorded at 12 locations, as well as debris from downed drones falling in three other places.

During the day on Wednesday, March 18, Russian forces attacked the building of the Territorial Recruitment Center in Sumy with a drone. Two people were injured — a woman and a 16-year-old teenager who was at a nearby bus stop at the time of the attack. Both victims were hospitalized.

Earlier, on the night of March 17, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with nearly two hundred drones. Most of the aerial targets were destroyed by air defense forces.

In particular, Russian forces attacked southern Ukraine. As a result of the attack, the port infrastructure was damaged and fires broke out. The enemy also attacked the Sumy region, and Zaporizhzhia also came under attack.

The strike hit near one of the terminals of a logistics operator. Seven employees were at work during the attack. Four suffered concussions, while three others received cuts to the head and body.
