The 6th Separate Special Purpose Regiment Ranger destroyed the Russian group in the Kursk direction near the border with the Sumy region. One Russian soldier surrendered, informs Special Operations Forces (SSO).

"Six Rangers raided an enemy group (Russian forces -ed.) attempting to storm Defense Forces positions in the Sumy region. SSO soldiers offered the enemy troops to surrender, guaranteeing their lives, medical aid, food, and water," the SSO said.

However, the Russians refused to surrender. After that, Ukrainian fighters began special operations.

"Thanks to coordinated combat efforts, the task was quickly completed at sunrise. Four enemies were killed, and one was forced to surrender," the SSO post said.

Russian offensive in the Sumy region

Russian forces have been conducting offensive operations on the Kursk direction for several months, including in the Sumy region. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said these actions did not surprise Ukrainian troops.

Zelenskyy stressed that Russia has not given up on its goal to capture the Sumy and Kharkiv regions but has made no progress.

The Telegraph reported that the Russian offensive in Sumy prevented the Ukrainian command from sending additional troops to the Donetsk region. This allowed the enemy to advance toward Kostiantynivka, an important logistics hub.
