Russian forces launched a series of strikes on the frontline town of Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region on January 8, trapping people under the rubble, according to the Telegram channel of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Head Ivan Fedorov.
"Four people were trapped under the rubble of a building as a result of an enemy attack on Stepnohirsk," he said.
According to the head of the regional military administration, two people have already been rescued, while two others remain under the rubble, and the search and rescue operation is ongoing.
Five strikes on Stepnohirsk
The Russian forces struck the frontline settlement at least five times.
"One of the strikes hit the village council building. Another one hit a residential building," Fedorov noted.
Two killed
As a result of enemy strikes in Stepnohirsk, four people were trapped under the rubble of a building. In particular, one man and one woman were rescued and are now in the hospital.
"Unfortunately, two women died – their bodies were just recovered from under the rubble," Fedorov noted.
Shelling of Zaporizhzhia and the region
On January 8, Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia with air bombs. Two strikes hit the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city. Thirteen people were killed, and another 29 were injured, including a 13-year-old girl. Five people were rescued, and doctors are fighting for the lives of four others.
It should be added that this is not the first time the Russian army has shelled Stepnohirsk. In December, Russia dropped bombs on the village of Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region. One of the UAVs fell near the fire station, and rescuers were injured.
