Russian army enters eastern outskirts of Toretsk. Fighting taking place literally for every house entrance - Armed Forces
The situation in Toretsk, Donetsk region, is difficult, as Russian forces have entered the eastern outskirts of the city. Intense fighting is taking place, with battles being fought for every house entrance, according to Anastasia Bobovnikova, spokesperson for the Luhansk Operational Tactical Unit.
"The hottest spot right now is in the Toretsk direction. The fighting is taking place within Toretsk itself. The situation is unstable, with battles being fought literally for every house entrance," Bobovnikova stated.
According to her, it is currently difficult to assess how much of the city is under enemy control, as Defense Forces units are counterattacking and reclaiming lost positions during the battles.
"The Russians have entered the eastern outskirts of the city and have advanced somewhat along Tsentralna Street, towards the Tsentralna mine. However, the situation is constantly changing—at times we reclaim their firing positions, and at other times they destroy ours. But we are continuously restoring our positions and trying to regain what the occupiers have captured, not allowing them to advance," the spokesperson noted.
Situation at the front
According to the General Staff as of 04:00 PM Kyiv time on October 7, there have been 88 combat engagements along the front. The hottest areas right now are in the Lyman, Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, and Kurakhove directions.
According to a report from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces have lost at least five divisions of armored vehicles and tanks in the Pokrovsk area since the beginning of their offensive operation to capture Avdiivka in October 2023, and during the activation of offensive operations in western Donetsk region in the summer of 2024.
