Russian army conducting 'hunt' for civilians in Sumy region - Regional Military Administration
Russian troops have significantly intensified shelling in the Sumy region compared to last year. They are conducting a "hunt" for the civilian population, according to a statement from the Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh.
He explained that the intensity of shelling in the Sumy region has increased. Specifically, last year there were around 8,000 shellings of settlements and communities in the Sumy region, while this year, within just 8 months, there have been over 10,300 shellings. In August alone, more than 2,000 shellings of the region were recorded.
According to Artyukh, the use of aviation weapons has increased tens of times compared to last year. Russia primarily uses guided aerial bombs, with 753 units launched in August.
The official noted that the Russian forces are also using FPV drones. Just this month, the enemy deployed 600 such drones, resulting in 23 people being injured.
"In fact, the enemy is conducting a 'hunt' on the population of Sumy region. Almost every drone is targeting our people and infrastructure," he added.
The most affected by Russian attacks are the settlements in the Sumy and Shostka districts.
