Russian army actively attacks in Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Toretsk directions - General Staff
Throughout the day on July 29, there were 117 combat engagements on the front lines. The situation remained most intense in the Pokrovsk direction, but the enemy was also active in the Kurakhove and Toretsk directions, according to the evening report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
By 22:00 on this day, the enemy launched a missile strike on Ukrainian territory using one missile, conducted 82 air strikes (including the deployment of 91 guided bombs), and used 459 kamikaze drones.
Additionally, Russian forces carried out 3,467 attacks on Ukrainian military positions.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attempted four unsuccessful attacks near Hlyboke and Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, the adversary also tried to advance four times near Stelmakhivka and Pishchane throughout the day but failed.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army launched twelve attacks in the areas of Makiivka, Nevske, Terni, and the Serebrianske Forestry. Ukrainian Armed Forces halted the enemy in all instances, inflicting comprehensive fire damage.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy made six unsuccessful attempts throughout the day to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of Pereizne, Spirne, and Ivanodarivka, suffering losses.
In the Kramatorsk direction, there were five combat engagements. The battles took place in the areas of Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, and Klishchiivka.
In the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 16 enemy attacks. Three battles continue near Toretsk and Zalizne. Most of the other attacks, mainly in the Pivnichne area, were halted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The highest enemy activity today was observed in the Pokrovsk direction. The Russian army attempted to penetrate Ukrainian defenses 39 times in the areas of Vozdvyzhenska, Novoselivka Persha, Novooleksandrivka, Prohres, Tymofiivka, Zhelanne, and Yasnobrodovka.
"At present, 30 enemy attacks have been repelled, and nine engagements are ongoing. The enemy is suffering significant losses, especially in manpower - preliminary reports indicate that our forces have neutralized 165 soldiers in this direction. A tank and several vehicles have been destroyed. Additionally, five guns, three tanks, two tow trucks, and one vehicle of the occupiers have been significantly damaged," the report states.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy launched 18 attacks on Ukrainian positions, with the highest activity observed around Kostyantynivka and Paraskoviivka. The enemy used a significant amount of armored equipment and sustained corresponding losses. Ukrainian defense forces destroyed and damaged eight tanks, 21 armored vehicles, five motorcycles, one buggy, and a 2A65 Msta-B gun. Additionally, around one hundred enemy soldiers were neutralized, most of them irreversibly.
The Russian army attempted to storm Ukrainian positions in the Vremivka direction seven times. All attacks in the Kostyantynivka and Velyka Novosilka areas were repelled.
In the Orikhiv direction, three unsuccessful engagements for the enemy occurred near Mala Tokmachka.
In the Prydniprovsk direction, the enemy also made three unsuccessful attempts to assault Ukrainian positions.
The General Staff also commended the defenders of the 79th Separate Tavrian Air Assault Brigade, who are holding the line in one of the hottest sectors of the front, for their effective and professional combat performance.
Enemy activity and its consequences
After a prolonged pause, Russian forces have intensified their activity in the Huliaipole direction. The enemy made two attempts to storm the area, with no change in the overall size of their grouping.
Additionally, it was reported that since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, as of July 29, 2024, the estimated Russian casualties have reached 576,000 soldiers. In the past 24 hours alone, the enemy has lost 1,310 personnel.
