Russian advance near Avdiivka slows down: UK intelligence reveals reasons
The advance of Russian troops in the Avdiivka area has slowed down in recent weeks. The probable reason for this was Russian losses, according to the UK Ministry of Defense.
According to the summary, Russian troops continue to focus on operations in the Donetsk region, achieving minor successes. The Russians tried to expand the confrontation zones to the northwest of Donetsk. Battles are taking place for several settlements, including Orlivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske.
"Russian advances have slowed down in recent weeks, likely partially due to heavy losses sustained in the Avdiivka campaign," intelligence says.
The UK Ministry of Defense notes that the situation on this part of the front remains unstable, and the shortage of personnel and ammunition of the Ukrainian forces is likely to limit their ability to hold their positions.
Frontline situation
The Russian occupiers intensified their assaults on the front. In particular, the Russians managed to capture Avdiivka and some neighboring villages. But the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding positions near Avdiivka, preventing Russians from advancing further.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military also reported that the Russian occupiers are trying to capture Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, and battles are already taking place in the neighboring settlements of Ivanivske and Bohdanivka.
