The situation on the Pokrovsk front is the toughest in the past year, with scale approaching that of World War II, reports Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational-strategic troop group.

"The situation on the Pokrovsk front is the most difficult on this front in the last year, except for literally a few weeks in spring. It is a key area for the Russians, including in this summer's campaign. But as of now, it is probably even harder than any previous period because the Russians have deployed a huge number of personnel," Trehubov said.

He noted that the enemy is trying to advance from two directions to cut off the city from the southwest and northeast.

Specifically, in the southwest, the Russians have "taken a beating." As for the northeast, they are committing large numbers of troops to capture several settlements and disrupt Ukrainian Armed Forces logistics.

According to Trehubov, during the winter campaign, the Russian army was forced to retreat. Now, the enemy has deployed up to 100,000 troops on a single narrow front.

"These are really scales approaching those of World War II, not just local wars like the Chechen or Afghan conflicts," said the Khortytsia spokesperson.

He added that Russian forces are still using infiltration tactics behind Ukrainian lines, similar to those used in spring. This is how the enemy tries to advance.

"The kill zones are simply being crawled through, trying to do it either unnoticed or by leaving one person behind while others crawl through. Some, as we know from prisoner experiences, have to crawl up to 60 kilometers. Thousands will die, but a couple will get behind our first line, establish positions, start firing, and try to harass Ukrainian drone operators. Reserves will move up to them, which are already limited. A firefight will break out there. This is how they advance," Trehubov summarized.

Frontline situation

Over the past 24 hours, 163 battles were recorded on the front. The greatest pressure was on the Novopavlivka and Pokrovsk directions.

Specifically, on the Pokrovsk front, the enemy launched 45 attacks, and on the Novopavlivka front, 26.
