Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of November 17

Our defenders repelled 19 enemy attacks on the Mariupol direction and continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction. Missile troops units successfully targeted 6 artillery pieces, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russians attacks
In the past 24 hours, Russian occupiers conducted another aerial strike on Ukraine, employing 18 combat UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. Ukrainian Air Defense Forces successfully neutralized 16 of these combat UAVs.
During the night, the enemy once again attacked our country using UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. Information about the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
Over the past day, there were 72 military clashes. In total, the adversary launched 12 missile and 47 aerial strikes, carrying out 38 bombardments with multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our forces and civilian areas.
Due to the Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are civilian casualties. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.
Aerial strikes targeted:
Petropavlivka, Kharkiv region;
Serebryanske Forestry Area, Luhansk region;
Diliyivka, Maryinka, Urozhaine, Staromykhailivka, Donetsk region;
Novodarivka, Mala Tokmachka, Zaporizhzhia region.
Additionally, over 100 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions have come under artillery fire.
The frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, actively conducts sabotage activities to prevent the redeployment of Ukrainian Forces to critical directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy carried out assault operations in the areas of Synkivka and Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region, where Ukrainian Forces successfully repelled four attacks.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted assault operations near Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region but did not achieve success.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy carried out assault operations near Ivanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 18 attacks.
Furthermore, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, inflicting losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment, and consolidating their positions on achieved lines.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy persists in attempting to encircle Avdiivka, but Ukrainian forces are steadfastly holding their defense, causing significant losses to the adversary.
The offensive actions of the occupiers east of Stepove, Avdiivka, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region were unsuccessful. Ukrainian forces repelled 17 attacks in this area.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 19 attacks by invaders in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy's attempts at unsuccessful assault operations near Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region were repelled.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the adversary conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the areas of Robotyne and west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 6 attacks.
Offensive by Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian forces are engaged in counter-battery warfare, delivering artillery strikes on enemy rear positions.
Enemy losses
Over the past day, the air force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted 2 strikes on areas with concentrations of personnel, weaponry, and military equipment of the enemy.
Missile troops units targeted 3 areas with concentrations of personnel, weaponry, and military equipment, as well as 6 artillery pieces, 2 command points, and 2 ammunition depots of the enemy.
The total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is reported to be 315,620 military personnel.
