Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of November 9
Our defenders repelled 30 enemy attacks in the Bahmut sector, inflicting fire damage on the enemy's rear positions in the Kherson sector. They also struck 8 enemy artillery units, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
During the past 24 hours, there were 78 military clashes. In total, the enemy launched 2 missile strikes and 48 aerial attacks, as well as conducted 79 artillery shelling episodes using multiple launch rocket systems targeting our troops and civilian areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in casualties among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have also suffered destruction and damage.
Furthermore, Russian occupiers carried out another missile strike against Ukraine, utilizing one guided aviation missile each from Kh-59 and Kh-31 series. Air defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed the Kh-59 missile.
Aerial strikes targeted the following locations:
Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region;
Spirne, Andriivka, Dyliivka, Avdiivka, Novobakhmutivka, Oleksandrivka, Novokalynove, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Yelizavetivka, Urozhaine, Staramaiorske in the Donetsk region;
Novoiivanivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Over 100 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
The frontline situation
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remains relatively stable with no significant changes.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the transfer of our troops to critical directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched unsuccessful assault operations in the vicinity of the settlement of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region, where our defenders repelled 6 enemy attacks.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted assault actions near Novooheorivka in the Luhansk region but did not achieve success.
In the Bakhmut direction, our forces repelled around 30 enemy attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Khromove, Klischiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, inflicting losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment, and consolidating their positions on the achieved lines.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy persists in its attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our defenders hold a steadfast defense and cause significant losses to the occupiers. The enemy's offensive actions in the areas of the settlements of Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severne, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region were unsuccessful. Here, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled more than 10 enemy attacks.
In the Maryinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where Ukrainian Forces repelled more than 20 attacks.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy also conducted unsuccessful assault actions in the areas of Staromykhailivka and south of Prechystivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive (assault) actions.
Offensive by Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, and exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces are engaged in counter-battery warfare and delivering fire strikes on the enemy's rear areas.
Enemy losses
During the past 24 hours, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted 12 strikes on enemy personnel, equipment, and military vehicle concentration areas, as well as 3 strikes on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile complexes.
Missile units targeted 8 artillery systems, 3 ammunition depots, 4 areas with enemy personnel, equipment, and military vehicles, 3 air defense systems, a radar station, 3 radio-electronic warfare stations, and one other significant enemy target.
The total number of casualties in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 307,640 military personnel.
