Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of October 26

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol direction. In total, there have been 78 combat engagements on the front lines over the past day, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
In total, the enemy conducted 50 aviation strikes and 49 rocket artillery shelling on the positions of our forces and populated areas. Additionally, yesterday, Russian occupiers carried out another aviation strike, employing the combat UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. All enemy Shahed drones were successfully destroyed by the Ukrainian air defense forces.
Unfortunately, due to the debris from the UAVs, there are civilian casualties. In the cities of Slavuta and Netishyn in the Khmelnytskyi region, 11 multi-apartment buildings, 9 private houses, 2 educational institutions, 2 fire and rescue units, and a police department building were damaged.
As a result of airstrikes with guided aviation bombs on the residential district of the city of Berislav and villages in the Berislav district of the Kherson region, there are unfortunately casualties among the civilian population. Private residential houses and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.
Aerial strikes were carried out on Novoselivske, Serebrianske Lisnytstvo, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Hryhorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Khromove, Klishchiivka, New York, Avdiivka, Novobakhmutivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Staromaiorske, Volodyne in the Donetsk region; Novodarivka, Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region; Zmiivka, Berislav, Novoberislav, Odradokamianka, Mykolaivka, Olhivka in the Kherson region.
Over 130 populated areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions found themselves under artillery fire.
The frontline situation
In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic group "North" in the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable without significant changes.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains a military presence in border areas, carries out active subversive activities with the goal of preventing the movement of Ukrainian forces to critical directions, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic group "Khortytsia," in the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 13 enemy attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, our troops continue to hold the defense steadfastly and have successfully repelled all enemy attacks near Nadiya and Makiivka in the Luhansk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 10 enemy attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Ivanivskyi, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, causing losses to the enemy in personnel and equipment, and consolidating their positions on the achieved lines.
In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic group "Tavria" in the Avdiivka direction, the enemy continues its attempts to encircle Avdiivka, actively using aviation. However, our troops maintain a resilient defense and inflict significant losses on the enemy. The enemy's offensive actions in the areas of Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, and Severne in the Donetsk region were unsuccessful, with 15 enemy attacks repelled.
In the Maryinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian forces repelled 20 enemy attacks here.
In the Shakhtarsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, our defenders repelled all enemy attacks in the areas of Vodyane, Novoukrainka, Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region, and Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the area of responsibility of the operational-strategic group "Odesa" in the Kherson direction, our troops are engaged in counter-battery combat, delivering fire strikes on the enemy's rear positions.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted 7 strikes on enemy personnel concentration areas.
Units of the missile forces targeted 3 ammunition depots, 6 artillery pieces, and an enemy air defense radar station.
