Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of September 29
The Ukrainian defense forces continue to conduct defensive operations in the east and south of Ukraine, as well as offensive operations in the Melitopol direction and advancing actions in the Bakhmut direction. During the past day, there were 21 combat clashes, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy attacks
During the past day, the occupiers attacked Ukraine with 39 combat UAVs Shahed-136/131, of which 31 were destroyed by our defenders.
In total, the enemy carried out 83 airstrikes and conducted 63 shelling attacks with rocket artillery systems, targeting both our military positions and civilian objects in our state. Unfortunately, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population due to Russian terrorist attacks. Private residential houses and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.
Aerial strikes affected the following areas: Hrabivske, Sumy region; Kruhle, Kupiansk, Berestove, Kharkiv region; Novoselivske, Luhansk region; Torske, Siversk, Spirne, Vesele, Kostiantynivka, Bila Hora, Avdiivka, Urozhaine, Staromykhailivka, Donetsk region; Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region; Mykolaivka in Kherson region.
More than 140 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions have come under artillery fire.
Frontline situation
In the area of responsibility of the North operational-strategic group in the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas and conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the relocation of our troops to vulnerable directions. They are also increasing the density of mines and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Kupiansk and Bakhmut directions, the enemy has not engaged in offensive actions. In the Lyman direction, the defense forces successfully repelled an enemy attack near the settlement of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region.
In the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group in the Avdiivka direction, the enemy attempted to regain lost positions south of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region but was unsuccessful. Additionally, our defenders successfully repelled an enemy attack in the area of Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Maryinka in the Donetsk region, making six unsuccessful attempts to displace our units from their positions. Our defenders also successfully repelled an enemy attack in the area of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled an enemy attack in the Urozhaine area of the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy attempted to regain lost positions in the Chervone area of the Zaporizhzhia region but was unsuccessful.
The Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, conducting offensive actions in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting losses on the occupying forces in terms of personnel and equipment, and wearing down the enemy along the entire front line.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, the defense forces are engaged in counter-battery warfare, destroying supply depots and successfully striking the enemy's rear areas.
Enemy losses
During the past day, the Ukrainian defense forces conducted 13 strikes on areas with personnel, weapons, and military equipment, 1 strike on an anti-aircraft missile complex, and 2 strikes on enemy electronic warfare stations. Our defenders also destroyed 2 tactical-level reconnaissance UAVs and struck an anti-aircraft missile complex, 11 artillery pieces, and an enemy ammunition depot using missile troops.
