Russia-Ukraine war: Situation on the front as of September 24

Russian occupiers attempted to regain lost ground in the Avdiivka area of the Donetsk region but were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, the Defense Forces continue their offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
Russian military forces launched one missile strike and 44 aerial strikes, conducting 52 bombardments from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.
As a result of these Russian terrorist attacks, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have also suffered destruction and damage.
The frontline situation
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains complex, with 24 armed clashes occurring in the past day.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains relatively stable, with no significant changes observed. There are no signs of the formation of offensive formations. Identified units of the Belarusian armed forces are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains a military presence in border regions and continues shelling populated areas from Russian territory. The enemy conducted an aerial strike in the vicinity of the settlement of Stepne in the Sumy region.
Over 15 populated areas, including Moschenka, Karpovychi in the Chernihiv region, Yablunivka, Ryasne, Pozhnya in the Sumy region, and Odnorobivka, Baranivka, Vovchansk, Vilkhuvatka, Stroyivka in Kharkiv region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kupiansk direction, the adversary conducted aerial strikes near Cherneshchyna in the Kharkiv region and Novoehorivka in the Luhansk region. More than 10 populated areas, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Berestove in the Kharkiv region, experienced artillery and mortar fire from the enemy.
In the Lyman direction, the adversary did not engage in offensive actions. Aerial strikes targeted areas near the populated settlements of Nevske in the Luhansk region and Spirne in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Novosadove, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, were affected by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the areas east of Bohdanivka and southeast of Bila hora in the Donetsk region. The enemy attempted to regain lost ground in the Klischiivka area of the Donetsk region but did not succeed. Aerial strikes were carried out near Klischiivka, Andriivka, and New York in the Donetsk region.
More than 10 populated areas, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klischiivka, Andriivka, Druzhba, and New York in the Donetsk region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy attempted to regain lost ground in the area near Avdiivka in the Donetsk region but did not succeed. Aerial strikes targeted the vicinity of this populated settlement. Avdiivka and Karlivka in the Donetsk region were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Maryinka direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled 11 enemy attacks in the area of Maryinka in the Donetsk region during the day. The adversary conducted an aerial strike near Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 populated areas, including Hostre, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobieda, Pervomaiske, and Paraskoviivka in the Donetsk region, came under enemy fire.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy conducted aerial strikes in the areas near the populated settlements of Vuhledar, Zolota Niva, Urozhaine, Staromayorske, and Zelene Pole in the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 populated areas, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Blahodatne, Urozhaine, and Rivnopil in the Donetsk region, experienced artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Melitopol direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the vicinity of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The enemy conducted aerial strikes near Verbove, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 10 populated areas, including Levadne, Hulyaipole, Yehorivka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, and Plavni in the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kherson direction, the adversary carried out aerial strikes in the areas near the populated settlements of Berislav, Odradokamianka, Burhunka, and Olhivka in the Kherson region. Approximately 10 populated areas in the Kherson region, including Kozatske, Olhivka, Tokarivka, Dniprovke, Kyzomys, and Stanislav in the Kherson region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
Enemy losses
Over the course of the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces conducted eight strikes on areas where the enemy's personnel, equipment, and military vehicles were concentrated.
Units of the missile forces successfully targeted two anti-aircraft missile systems, four artillery pieces, and one enemy ammunition depot.
